Vanilla Tomboy   

We started Miette at the Berkeley Farmers' market in the fall of 2001. Each week, rain or shine, we would set up our pink tent and vintage cake stands to sell our hand-crafted cakes and pastries. Our cakes are traditionally American and at the same time (and in the same bite!), European, modern and understated. We attribute this to our many influences, ranging from the precise world of French baking and the pastry shop windows of Vienna, to illustrations in children's story books. Being located in Northern California provides us with the finest and freshest ingredients available in the world and everything we use is from local, family-owned farms and mills, and whenever possible, organic and sustainably produced.

No longer at the farmer's markets, we now sell from our tiny cake boutique in San Francisco's famous Ferry Building and, as of January 2007, our lovely candy shop in Hayes Valley. We invite you to visit our pâtisserie to see our seasonal selection of cakes and cupcakes, tarts, cookies, confections, cake stands and other vintage dessert wares. Or visit our Confiserie to see old fashioned candy, confections from around the world, treats made by local artisans and organic cotton candy.
